      Template:Infobox Scotland county Sutherland is a historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area in the Highlands of Scotland. Its county town is Dornoch. Sutherland borders Caithness to the east, Ross-shire to the south and the Atlantic to the north and west. The Easter Ross Seaboard is the stretch of coastline running from the North Sutor, Nigg, to the tip of the peninsula at Tarbat Ness. The coastline extends around fourteen miles and supports three Seaboard villages – Shandwick, Balintore and Hilton. These villages are situated about half way along this beautiful example of Highland coastline.

I was brought up in the village of Golspie, Sutherland until the age of seven. The east coast of Scotland north of Inverness has it's own particular beauty, it certainly is full of history.

Some of the places here are, Balintore, Porthmahomack, Dornoch, Golspie, Brora, Helmsdale, then Lybster and right up to Noss Head and Duncansby in Caithness. I am getting to know this area better and : Keeper’s House is situated in beautiful Glen Cassley. This charming, traditional, detached stone cottage overlooks the renowned River Cassley and enjoys stunning views from all windows.

Situated on the Highland estate of Glenrossal, it provides peace and tranquillity. Easter Ross also tends to be drier and milder than the west coast. Easter Ross doesn’t have set boundaries, so we consider it as the area between Cromarty Firth and Dornoch Firth on the Highland’s east coast, with its western border laying somewhere around Loch Vaich.
